Maze Runner Sequel The Scorch Trials Has Concept Art And A Release Date!

The Scorch Trials is the second book—preceded by the 2009 novel The Maze Runner—in a young-adult dystopian science fiction trilogy by James Dashner. The novel was published October 5, 2010 by Delacorte Press, an imprint of Random House. On October 11, 2013, it was reported that Fox had acquired the rights to The Scorch Trials and the movie will be released on September 18th, 2015.

About a year ago, 20th Century Fox started work on The Scorch Trials, the sequel to the young adult novel adaptation The Maze Runner, which just opened this past weekend, and now, hot on the heels of a successful debut, we have the first piece of concept art from the sequel.

Opening on September 18, 2015, The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials will be going head-to-head with Johnny Depp's currently-untitled Whitey Bulger biopic, as well as Everest, the mountain climbing adventure film starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin and John Hawkes.

Plot:
"The Gladers have escaped the Maze, but now they face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a world ravaged by solar flares and disease."
