Escobar: Paradise Lost (also known as Paradise Lost) is a 2014 French-Spanish romantic thriller film, written and directed by Andrea Di Stefano. It is the directorial debut of Di Stefano. The film chronicles the life of a surfer (Josh Hutcherson), who falls in love while visiting his brother in Colombia and finds out that the girl's uncle is Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar (Benecio Del Toro).
The film premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2014. RADiUS-TWC acquired the North American distribution rights of the film in February 2014 and will release the film on January 16, 2015 in United States.
Plot:
"Young surfer Nick (Hutcherson) thinks all his dreams have come true when he goes to visit his brother in Columbia. Against an idyllic backdrop of blue lagoons and white beaches he falls madly in love with a beautiful Colombian girl called Maria (Claudia Traisac). It all seems perfect until he meets her uncle, one Pablo Escobar (Del Toro). "Paradise Lost" is directed by Andrea Di Stefano and is expected to hit theaters in Europe this fall."
