Chappie is an upcoming science fiction action comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Neill Blomkamp. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, and Sigourney Weaver, as well Ninja and Yolandi Visser from the rap/rave group Die Antwoord. The film is scheduled to be released on March 6, 2015, by Columbia Pictures.
Plot:
"After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth, Chappie becomes the adopted son in a strange and dysfunctional family. Chappie is preternaturally gifted, one of a kind, a prodigy. He also happens to be a robot."

Presumed to be a feature version of Blomkamp's own 2004 short Tetra Vaal, with elements from 2006 short Tempbot which features a similar-looking robot protagonist, the film will be about a robot named "CHAPPiE" programmed with the artificial intelligence to think and feel for himself.
